上海交通大学讲席教授、博士生导师。
从事先进燃烧诊断、非稳态燃烧机理、AI赋能燃烧技术研究。在Science、Angewandte Chemie International Edition、Combustion and Flame、Proceedings of the Combustion Institute等期刊发表SCI论文360余篇，google引用20000余次，出版专著《燃烧反应动力学》和《燃烧诊断学》，在第34届国际燃烧会议作1小时大会特邀报告（2012，中国首位）。负责基金委重大科研仪器研制项目“基于超高帧频激光诊断的高温高压湍流燃烧研究装置”（部门推荐）等。
曾获中国科学院百人计划（2002）、国家杰出青年基金（2009）、美国物理学会会士（2012）、国际燃烧学会会士（2018）、国家自然科学二等奖（2018，排名第一）、德国洪堡研究奖（2021）、上海市科技精英（2022）等；任第38届国际燃烧会议大会主席（1928年至今中国唯一），Applications in Energy and Combustion Science创刊主编（2020-2025），Proceedings of the Combustion Institute主编（2025-2028，1928年至今中国唯一）及多个国际期刊编委等。
