On the afternoon of June 2, graduate student Cunhao Cui from the Combustion and Energy Research Team successfully defended his doctoral thesis. Cunhao Cui's research primarily focused on developing online mass spectrometry diagnostic methods for lignin liquid-phase heterogeneous reactions and studying reaction mechanisms. His advisors were Professor Fei Qi and Associate Professor Zhongyue Zhou. Cunhao Cui pursued his doctoral degree at Shanghai Jiao Tong University after completing his master's degree in 2019. He possesses a strong foundation in catalytic chemistry and analytical chemistry.

During his doctoral studies, Cunhao Cui made significant contributions to the field by creating multiple online mass spectrometry diagnostic methods for the challenging liquid-phase heterogeneous reactions of lignin. His work addressed a crucial research gap in online investigations for this system and proposed novel reaction mechanisms.

Throughout his doctoral program, Cunhao Cui demonstrated his commitment to sharing his findings with the scientific community. He published three first-authored papers, delivered three oral presentations at international conferences, and obtained one authorized invention patent, showcasing the impact and innovation of his research.

Overall, Cunhao Cui's successful defense and impressive achievements highlight his potential as a promising researcher in the fields of catalytic chemistry and analytical chemistry. His work on mass spectrometry diagnostics and reaction mechanisms could have significant implications for the study of lignin liquid-phase reactions.
