Yuyang Li Professor

My main research focus is to develop a deeper understanding of the reaction kinetics and laminar flames for energy transformation in power machinery. This concerns particularly high pressure and realistic current and future fuels, regarding also the formation mechanisms of combustion emissions. In my group, research work addresses challenges for chemical diagnostics under such conditions, specifically, developments of laminar flame propagation measurement methods and kinetic models for the combustion of liquid fuels at high pressures. This pertains especially to high-boiling-point fuels including transportation fuel components and alternatives. Efforts are also made to unravel intermediates and key pathways in low-temperature chemistry of hydrocarbon and oxygenated fuels, and explore fuel and oxidizer effects on combustion reactivity and PAH formation for hydrocarbon and sustainable fuels. Furthermore, my research interests also cover flame synthesis kinetics and spray/droplet combustion.
